Young moved from North Carolina to Los Angeles, landing roles as Cathy Metsker and Rachel in JJ Abrams Mission Impossible: 3 starring Tom Cruise and Keri Russel. Young has also produced several independent films, such as the Sundance most-loved The Freebie starring Dax Shepard and A Country Remedy starring Joshua Leonard who she was a part of the film in her home state of North Carolina. Following that, she starred in part as a support role in the independent comedy film Bernard and Huey opposite Jim Rash and David Koechner. In 2018, she appeared in Disney Live Action's version of A Wrinkle in Time along with Oprah Winfrey Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling.
